Penygader / Cadair Idris

Cader Idris is the second highest mountain in Wales and offers some incredible views at its summit. Its only a 10 minute drive from our farm depending on which side you walk up it. There’s 2 ways to climb it. The car park for the Pony path is up Cader Road (our closest path) and its the easier/longer route to the top or there’s the foxes path (about a 20 minute drive) which you can access from the Minffordd car park at the bottom side of the Corris path on the A487.

BEACHES

Fairbourne

Fairbourne is a charming seaside village located just a short 10-minute drive away from our place. The village is home to a delightful miniature railway, which is perfect for a fun-filled family day out. If you’re in the mood for some delicious seafood, you can’t miss out on the fish and chip shop – it’s a local favorite! However, if you’re looking for something different, the village also has a fantastic pizza place that serves up some mouth-watering pies. Additionally, there are a couple of small grocery shops where you can stock up on essentials.

Outdoors

Precipice Walk

The Precipice Walk is one of my personal favorites, and it takes about three hours to complete. It provides breathtaking views of our area, which extends in every direction for more than 10 miles. The walk spans the 12th-century Nannau estate and is a public footpath, although it is privately owned. This walk is one of the best attractions that Wales has to offer, and it’s perfect for anyone who loves nature and enjoys a good outdoor adventure. You’ll pass through lush woodlands, verdant sheep fields, and tranquil lakes.

Outdoors

Arthog Waterfalls

If you’re looking for an unforgettable nature experience, I highly recommend taking a hike to Arthog Falls. Situated amidst lush greenery, the falls are a sight to behold, especially after a spell of rain. The sound of cascading water and the refreshing mist in the air will invigorate your senses and leave you feeling energized. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to witness the raw beauty of nature firsthand!

OUTDOORS

Mawddach Trail

The Mawddach Trail footpath walk and cycle route winds for 9.5 miles (15km) along the disused railway track on the southern edge of the spectacular Mawddach estuary. Whilst the trail can be joined at several points it starts at the picturesque market town of Dolgellau and finishes by crossing the iconic railway bridge over the mouth of the estuary into Barmouth. Its also easily accessible from our farm

Talyllyn Railway

In the picturesque village of Tywyn lies the world’s oldest heritage railway, a true gem waiting to be explored. Step back in time as you embark on a journey through some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable. You’ll be enchanted by the old-fashioned steam engines and vintage carriages as you make your way along the tracks. With so much history and heritage to uncover, this is more than just a train ride.

Outdoors

Fairbourne Railway

The Fairbourne Railway has been running from Fairbourne village to the mouth of the Mawddach Estuary, connecting with the ferry to Barmouth for over 100 years. It started as a two foot gauge horse-drawn tramway which was then converted to a 15 inch gauge railway in 1916. The line in 1986 was completely re built to a 12.25 inch gauge making it one of the smallest passenger railways in the world.

OUTDOORS

Barmouth

Barmouth is a 20 minute drive from our place or around 8 miles away. It was a sandy beach and plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to enjoy in the town. There’s also the famous “Barmouth bridge” which spans across the Mawddach estuary which is well worth a walk across and offers some breathtaking views of the Mawddach valley. There’s also the Panorama walk just outside of Barmouth.

Outdoors

Snowdon

Just over an hour’s drive from our farm and you will be starting to hike Snowdon. Embark on a thrilling adventure by driving for just over an hour from our farm to reach the starting point of the Snowdon hiking trail. As you make your way through the picturesque countryside, you’ll gradually catch glimpses of the majestic mountain that awaits you.
